Abstract Synopsis

Prof. Dr. Burak Demiralp

In the anterior maxilla, the esthetic outcome and its long term stability is of paramount
importance. This is the most important goal of implant therapy, followed by proper function
and phonetics. An optimal esthetic outcome requires a thorough understanding of the
underlying biological processes of bone and soft tissue healing following tooth extraction.
With the knowledge of tissue biology in postextraction sites, well defined selection criteria
are available today. Choosing the right timing of implant placement directly affects the
outcome of the treatment. Not only the timing of implant placement but also the management
and manipulation of the soft tissue and also working as a team is important. In this lecture; the
audience can learn the selection criteria for the timing of the implant placement, how to do the
soft tissue managements during, before or after the implant placement, how this soft tissue
managements affect the outcomes of the treatment and the importance of working as a team.
