Biography

PhD DORIANA AGOP FORNA

Prof. Agop was graduated in 2013 at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Medicine and
Pharmacy, Iasi. In 2014 she has finished the Master in “Economic Policies in International
Affairs”. Prof. Agop completed the Master “Implanto-prosthetic Rehabilitation of Edentation” in
July 2015. 2015 Master in “Public Health and Sanitary Management”. In 2016, she became OMF
Surgery Specialist Doctor. In 2017, she received the academic title “Doctor in Medicine”. 2018
Specialization in dental prosthetic. Prof. Agop is part of the research project PN-II-ID-PCE2007-2: “IMPACT OF SMOKING ON THE ORAL HEALTH CONDITION.
IMPLEMENTATION OF METHODS TO QUIT SMOKING IN DENTAL MEDICINE” with
participation in Working group in 2nd European Workshop on Tobacco Use Prevention and
Cessation for Oral Health Professionals: “Content and methods of education revised”. Prof.
Agop authored several papers published on international journals, and participated as a Speaker
at several national and international congresses.

”SURGICAL LASERS − NECESSITY VS. CHALLENGE  ”

ABSTRACT

Surgical lasers are rapidly emerging as significant tool in oral surgery as well as in the proprosthetic and pro-implant procedures. Surgical lasers as CO2 (10600nm), Er:YAG (2940nm),
Er,Cr:YSGG (2790nm), or diode lasers (810-1064nm) are a necessity in soft-tissue oral surgery
and hard-tissue oral surgery due to higher comfort for patients, less inflammatory reactions and
faster healing time. Also need for training, change of the usual therapeutic protocols, higher costs
for patients represent a challenge for dental practitioners that are focused to work with modern
technology in dental medicine. Researchers focus on the risk-benefit ratios and viability of
specific laser applications in dental medicine to help practitioners to gain in-depth knowledge
and trust in surgical lasers.
