”THE MANAGEMENT OF SOFT TISSUE AND PROSTHETIC EMERGENCE ON TEETH AND
IMPLANTS: CLINICAL AND TECHNICAL PROTOCOLS FOR A PREDICTABLE
Prof. Dr. LORIS PROSPER
The lecture will demonstrate some clinical cases of single implants and complex prosthetic rehabilitation,
emphasizing the importance of proceeding according to a standardized protocol to define a proper
diagnosis and an adequate treatment plan.
Particular attention will be given to the decision-making criteria for choosing when to replace a natural
tooth with an implant. In the lecture will be presented a complete rehabilitation over natural teeth,
documented more than 30 years ago, as an example of how precise and repeatable protocols allow to
obtain a clinical outcome that meets the aesthetic and occlusion criteria.
We will try to communicate the importance of a multidisciplinary treatment plan that also addresses the
aspects of periodontology, surgery and gnatology, paying particular attention to the relationship between
implant-supported and over denture rehabilitation, with the aim of trying to imitate as much as possible
what nature has created, thus achieving a product that can harmonically integrate in the patient’s mouth:
hence the concept of oral bio-esthetic.
The purpose of the lecture is to review the various clinical cases and their respective provisional and
definitive prosthetic treatments. There will be some surgical- periodontal interventions for achieving the
height and thickness of the hard and soft tissues, optimal for a prosthetic guided positioning of the
Regarding the technical-prosthetic part, the prognostic role of the precision of the implant-abutmentcrown connection will be emphasized, the customized abutment in order to resemble the natural tooth
emergency profile, the polishing, the correct morphology: only by respecting perimplant tissues, the
longevity of the implant and the prosthesis associated with it, is ensured.
At the end of the lecture, the maintenance protocols will be discussed, from the point of view of
