Abstract Synopsis

Prof. Dr. Peter Pospiech

Preventive measures are the key factor for the success of either fixed or removable
partial dentures.
Oral hygiene aspects and a continuous observation of the periodontal situation is the
basis of any therapeutic approach.
The main aim of our prosthetic therapy is to avoid more damage for the reduced
residual dentition.
As few teeth remained as more careful the planning has to be carried out.
Strategic implants are one of the options to avoid the overload of the residual
If implants are not an option the design of removable partial dentures is an important
aspect for the prevention of further damage in the given the oral situation.
The lecture discusses aspects of oral and denture hygiene, denture design, occlusal
requirements, implants under the preventive point of view and long-timemaintenance.
At least the choice of the right material will also be discussed.
