Balkan Journal of Stomatology

Message of the Editor-in-Chief |
It is a great pleasure for the Editor-in-Chief to see on the web site the
Journal he is editing, the fact that offers extreme possibilities of spreading
ideas and new achievements among colleagues throughout the Balkans, and much
wider! The Journal appeared almost immediately after the Balkan Stomatological
Society (BaSS) was established, more precisely a year later. The basic aim of
the Journal follows the primary goals of the BaSS - bringing specialists from
different fields of dentistry throughout the Balkans closer together, keeping
Balkan dental professionals well informed and improvement of communication and
knowledge on the whole.
The Balkan Journal of Stomatology (BJS) is the official publication of the BaSS
and is published regularly, three times a year. It publishes original and review
papers, as well as case reports, primarily written by authors of all the Balkan
countries, but also the selected papers submitted for publication from other
colleagues or associate members of the BaSS. The Journal publishes papers
accepted by the “National Editorial Boards”, and the Editor-in-Chief defines the
content of each issue of the Journal, selecting papers from different Balkan
countries according to the general plan of covering as many dental specialties
as possible.
The Editorial Board of the BJS is composed of eminent experts in dentistry from
all the Balkan countries willing to contribute to the BaSS (in alphabetical
order): Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (from 2002), Bulgaria, Cyprus, Former
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro (Yugoslavia)
and Turkey. Contributors from the Balkan countries submit their papers to
domestic editorial boards, and after the reviewing process, the accepted papers
are sent to the Editor-in-Chief. Contributors from non-Balkan countries send
their papers for reviewing to the Editor-in-Chief directly.
The target audiences of the BJS are researchers from different fields of
stomatology and related biomedical sciences throughout the Balkans, as well as
dental practitioners interested in following the latest scientific results and
technical advances achieved in the region.
Over the past six years, having acquired considerable new experience in editing
a journal with such a specific editorial board, composed of colleagues from all
the Balkan countries, and papers of various qualities covering all fields of
stomatology, I believe this is the proper time to initiate some new activities.
Setting a web site is such an activity; I believe quite an important activity,
which will add to the Journal’s wider recognition and, consequently, better and
more efficient communication and exchange of scientific ideas. Now, on the web
site, the BJS will be easily found, and I hope that this will enable the BJS to
become a well-known international scientific journal, covering all aspects of
stomatology.
